River access has traditionally been available upstream of the Kakanui Bridge along the right bank of the river across the McCones' land which is a working farm. To manage safety risks to visitor and employee safety the land owners and the lessee permit access on the following terms.
Permission is not required for recreational access across the private land but the farm owner and lessee are not liable to make the natural hazards safer (such as the river bank, trees, or the river itself) or to provide or maintain infrastructure for the use of the public. They are not liable for the safety of recreational activities undertaken while accessing the land.
The farm owner and lessees provide access to the farm's Hazard Register which recreational users must comply with for their own safety.
Access is via the bridge and river bank only - access is not permitted through the farm.
Do not enter the paddocks, climb or touch fences, gates, irrigators or other infrastructure.
Do not interact with stock.
Dogs are not permitted.
Do not cut down trees, spray or undertake planting or modifications without permission.
Leave all gates how you found them. Do not tamper with locks.
No vehicles - walking access only.
Report any damage or emergencies.
